The research
that I had conducted had help me understand how to write a script and the format
used. For example looking at the structure of a script from mean girls. The research
that I had from the article and the short story had given me a lot of good
ideas for my film. The story had given an idea of how to structure a narrative and set out my story.

Primary Research
Primary research
- Trip New York
- Performing in showcases
- Death of a family member
As well as
using second hand research for creating storyline for my film I thought about
using my own experiences to create a narrative. This would be a good way to
engage my audience to something that they can relate to if it is some a true
story and they can feel deeper towards it. For example I had long a family
member who I was really close to, this can be turned into a film of how someone
is grieving the loss and overcomes it and does something good to help a
community or other people who suffer and don’t overcome the loss of their
family member.
Adaptations
The short story that I looked at
was the angel by Hans Christian Andersen.
In the beginning of the story it talks about after a good child dies an
angel of god comes down from heaven and takes the child to the places they
loved during their life then they gather flowers to take to heaven so they can
bloom brightly. As they picked flowers
from a place the child often played, later that night the angel had flown over
a narrow street and notices a broken flowerpot and saw the withered field
flower, the angel picked the flower up and continued to fly as he told the
child a story.
The story was about a sick child who had a flower that he would
get up to water and care for but one the boy had died the flower had been left
to wither and die. The child asked how he knew this and the angel had said to
the little boy “I know it because I myself was the poor sick boy who walked
upon crutches, and I know my flower well.”
As the angel had told the child this, the child noticed they has arrived
at heaven’s gate.
Once we read and analysed the
existing short story, we had to recreate it into a film in our own way by
either basing it about a section of the story or using a quote from it. I had
used the angel and the little boy’s interaction and the innocence of the
child’s death. I had used this idea for my main female character, her back
story is about her mother dying and she falls into depression.

Factual information
Factual information
The
researched that I conducted to use for my narrative were two news articles and
a short story. The first news article was about two girls ages twelve and
fourteen bullying another twelve year old girl until she committed suicide, the
bullying was done online through message boards and text messages. The reason I
picked this article is because it relates to this generation, being don’t have
to real life bullies because they are online bullies.
The second
article is about Amanda Todd the 15 year old girl who committed suicide due to
cyber bullying, she had met an online friend who had pressured her into showing
her topless self to him and it had spread over the internet. Amanda was bullied
and beaten to the point of drinking bleach but she was save a month before her
death she had posted a video on the internet telling everyone her story. Like the
other article this relates to this generation because we are consistently online
and we are exposed to the dangers of the world.
The short
story that I looked at was by Hans Christian Andersen The Angel (1844) it is
about a boy who has died and an angel has come to take him to heaven but on the
way the angel notices a flower that is dying and he takes it with them the
angel tells the boy a story about the flower and at the end of the story it
turns out that the flower belonged to the angel when we was a young boy before
he died.
I wanted to
use these stories because they all relate to death or loss which I thought
would be an interesting narrative subject. Also because these stories can relate
to other people.
